Indian Companies In Top 10 H1B Visa Application

Want to know Indian companies in the top 10 H1B Visa Application? Despite the hurdles put in place by the American government for visas, a total of 185,298 visa applications were received by the immigration department during the April-June quarter.

H1B visas remained the most popular class of visas being applied for. As per data released by the US Office of Foreign Labor Certification, a number of Indian companies are amongst the top 10 applicants.

Indian Companies In Top 10 H1B Visa Application

A total of 185,298 visa applications were received from April to June 2020 and top software developers from India to apply include:

  1. Qualcomm
  2. Infosys
  3. Cognizant
  4. TCS
  5. Zensar

6 Indian Companies And Employees On H1B Visa

  1. TCS: 19,755
  2. Cognizant: 24,382
  3. Infosys: 13,042
  4. Wipro: 9,029
  5. HCL Tech: 7,199
  6. Tech Mahindra: 6,242

H1B Application Trends

Of the total visa applications received, over 35,000 were submitted as employer sponsored Green Card applications. Half of the applications processed were for Indian nationals.

Given the new immigration regulations, it will be interesting to see how many applications are approved. The second quarter for 2020 saw an initial approval rate of 87.1%. This marked an increase of almost 4% as compared to the second quarter of 2019.

That said, one must keep in mind the fact that the initial denial rate in 2019 was almost double the rate in 2017. The initial denial rate for 2020’s second quarter was slightly lower than that of the 2019 second quarter.

Top Occupations For H1B Visas

Software and App developers take up the highest percentage of visa applications. There have been more applications received for these posts than the total number of H1B applications received for computer system engineers and architects, software developers and computer system analysts together.

Other occupations that carved out a sizeable percentage of the total applications include electronics engineers, management analysts, computer and info system managers, ops research analysts, computer programmers and statisticians.

Which Indian Companies Are Hiring?

The top three positions for companies that submitted H1B visa applications were taken up by Qualcomm Technologies, Infosys and Cognizant Technology Solutions respectively.

Apart from Infosys and Cognizant, the other Indian companies in the top 10 were TCS and Zensar Technologies.
