University Living – An Easy Way For Overseas Students To Find Accommodation

November 5, 2019 by Filter Coffee

For students traveling abroad for further studies, getting admitted to college is not the only hurdle to be crossed. Finding decent accommodation is equally important. Given the high demand for student housing, not all colleges and universities can offer quality housing within the campus.

The onus thus falls on students to make their own arrangements. Understanding the difficulty students faced finding private accommodation led to the development of University Living, a global tech-enabled platform for overseas students seeking accommodation.

What is University Living?

University Living is a global marketplace aimed at helping students find accommodation and get assistance for this process. The platform is designed to help students make a smooth transition from living at home to living independently.

In the words of  the founder and CEO, Saurabh Arora, “The idea was to provide a one-stop solution for students to not just compare and book the best accommodation that fits their needs but to receive constant guidance from a 24/7 support team of student housing experts on requirements that go beyond the bed.”

University Living – Services

The platform currently offers overseas students accommodation in the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, UAE, South Korea, and Europe.

Since it’s inception it has grown to a stage where it can offer up to 1 million beds. Each of these properties has been verified by the brand or its partners to ensure student safety.

A 24/7 support team helps students find, compare and book this accommodation. The team helps them find the best solution to their accommodation needs according to the desired location, proximity to the college, budget and personal preferences.

In addition, they also provide additional services such as:

  • Delivery of room essentials
  • Assistance with setting up overseas bank accounts
  • Airport transfer services
  • Pre-activated overseas mobile SIM
  • Professional guarantor service for easy payment plans
  • Forex solutions

Their Journey

University Living was founded in 2015 by Saurabh Arora and Mayank Maheshwari. The founders were once roommates and had a combined experience of over 20 years.

The duo won the Economic Times’ Power of Ideas award within their debut year. In May 2018, a new website was launched to make the student experience easier and customized to their needs. From 2015 to 2019, the platform has grown by 3000X.

Today, the platform has helped over 150,000 students from over 900 universities find safe accommodation. University Living is the preferred accommodation partner for many colleges and universities in Australia and the UK.

Future plans include setting up a mobile app and the introduction of inventory management solutions for boutique property providers.
