COVID-19 Travel Ban For Indian Tourists – An Overview
Over the last year and a half, thousands of people have had to cancel holidays because of COVID-19. Now, as countries step up their vaccination drives, countries are opening their borders to tourists.
Commercial international flights from India remain suspended till July 31st. However, we have air bubbles established with 28 countries that are welcoming Indian travelers. So, as an Indian passport holder, let’s look at which countries you can plan a holiday in.

List of Countries That Welcomes Indian Tourists
The below-listed countries have now lifted the COVID-19 travel ban for Indians
- Afghanistan
Requirements: Negative PCR test result from a test taken 72 hours before arrival.
2. Barbados
Requirements: Negative PCR test result. Testing will also be conducted at the port of entry and on the 8th day of quarantine.
Quarantine duration: 7 days
3. Bermuda
Requirements: Negative PCR test result from a test taken no more than 5 days before arrival.
Quarantine duration: 4 days
4. Belize
Requirements: Proof of having received 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine or a negative PCR test result from a test taken 72 hours before arrival.
5. Canada
Requirements: Negative RT- PCR test result from a test taken 72 hours before arrival or vaccination certificate (Covaxin and Sputnik-V are not accepted). Travelers will be tested on arrival
Quarantine duration: 3 days quarantine for non-vaccinated travelers

6. Costa Rica
Requirements: Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative PCR test result. All travellers must submit a completed Health Pass form.
7. Ecuador
Requirements: Completed “Declaracion de salud del viajero”, COVID-19 vaccination certificate and a negative PCR test result. Travelers without these documents may need to quarantine for 10 days.
8. Egypt
Requirements: Negative PCR test result from a test taken 72 hours before arrival.
9. El Salvador
Requirements: Proof of having received 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine or a negative PCR test result from a test taken 72 hours before arrival. Diplomatic passport holders and travellers below the age of 2 years are exempt.
10. Guatemala
Requirements: Proof of having received 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and a negative PCR test result from a test taken 72 hours before arrival. People who have tested positive for COVID-19 earlier must show a certificate of recovery within 3 months of intended travel.
11. Germany
Requirements: Vaccination certificate
12. Guyana
Requirements: Negative PCR test result from a test taken 72 hours before arrival.
13. Honduras
Requirements: Negative PCR test result from a test taken 72 hours before arrival. All travelers must also submit an Immigration Pre-check form.
14. Iceland
Requirements: Negative RT- PCR test result from a test taken 72 hours before arrival or vaccination certificate. Travelers will be tested on arrival
Quarantine duration: Minimum 5 days quarantine
15. Maldives
Requirements: Negative RT- PCR test result from a test taken 96 hours before arrival
16. Mauritius
Requirements: Travelers will be tested on arrival
Quarantine duration: 14 days
17. Mexico
Requirements: No testing requirements.
Quarantine duration: varied
18. Nicaragua
Requirements: Negative PCR test result from a test taken 72 hours before arrival.
19. Panama
Requirements: Negative PCR test result from a test taken no more than 48 hours before arrival. A second test will be conducted on arrival.
Quarantine duration: 3 days
20. Paraguay
Requirements: Negative COVID-19 LAMP, NAAT or PCR test result from a test taken 72 hours before arrival and international medical insurance that covers coronavirus treatment costs.
22. Serbia
Requirements: Negative PCR test result from a test taken 48 hours before arrival.
23. South Africa
Requirements: Negative PCR test result from a test taken 72 hours before arrival.
Quarantine: Required only if the traveler is not carrying a negative RT-PCR test
24. South Korea
Requirements: Proof of having received both doses of the Covisheild vaccine
Quarantine: 14 days for non-vaccinated travelers or those travelers vaccinated with Covaxin
25. Switzerland
Requirements: Proof of vaccination or negative PCR/ Rapid Antigen test result
Quarantine: Required only if the traveler is not vaccinated
26. The Dominican Republic
Requirements: Travelers may be subject to randomized health screening and breath testing on arrival. Quarantine may be required for travelers showing symptoms of COVID-19
27. Turkey
Requirements: Negative RT- PCR test result from a test taken 72 hours before arrival.
Quarantine duration: 14 days
28. Russia
Requirements: Negative RT- PCR test result from a test taken 72 hours before arrival. Antibody tests will not be accepted.
29. Uzbekistan
Requirements: Negative PCR test result from a test taken 72 hours before arrival.
Quarantine duration: 14 days
30. Venezuela
Requirements: Negative PCR test result from a test taken 48 hours before arrival. Testing may also be conducted at the port of entry.
As the number of Coronavirus positive cases fluctuates, countries may change their policies on foreign travelers. For the moment, this makes advance planning risky. Travel routes are slowly opening up and if you do choose to travel, be sure to maintain social distancing as far as possible and wear a mask in public spaces.
