Officially called the Islamic Republic of Iran, this nation is home to one of the oldest civilizations in the world. Lying in the southwestern portion of Asia Iran is covered in lofty mountain ranges and has a desert plateau.

The capital city of Tehran is a metropolis that has a combination of modern buildings and major landmarks from the past. Iran is famous for its verdant gardens and glorious architecture. Tehran is also the main center for commerce, education, and culture.

People who wish to travel to Iran as a tourist requires a tourist visa and this visa can also be used to visit friends and relatives. This visa is valid for a period of 90 days and the visa allows a person to stay only up to 30 days in the country.

A duly filled in application form along with a valid passport, proof of confirmed hotel reservations, flight tickets and travel itinerary must be submitted for obtaining a tourist visa. A bank statement proving your financial stability, adequate medical travel insurance coverage is also necessary.

Visa is usually denied to people whose passports have evidence of traveling to Israel. You are required to leave Iran on the completion of your authorized stay.
